The Tower Inspector oversees field-based construction activities in coordination with third-party contractors. Key responsibilities include:
Supervising civil site preparation, concrete foundation work, underground conduit installations, site grounding, electrical systems installation, tower and antenna systems setup, Telecom prefabricated equipment shelters, and equipment racks.
Assisting the centralized Construction team with project tracking, field updates, site audits, inspection reporting, and coordination under the guidance of more experienced employees.
Supporting a strong construction safety culture and ensuring the execution of utility owner's safety standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor field installation activities at Telecom sites in accordance with project documents, including drawings, scopes of work, permits, and safety guidelines.
Ensure project workflow complies with utility owner standards and established practices.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction guidelines and OSHA standards.
Coordinate delivery of large materials and heavy equipment to construction sites.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues as needed.
Maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
Be self-motivated and capable of problem-solving independently.
Review utility-issued documents for constructability before starting construction and manage potential issues.
Maintain an on-site presence during all construction activities.
Verify that contractor work is performed to standard and adheres to current utility guidelines.
Enforce all terms and conditions, including safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
Verify and track all materials stored on and off-site for payment and use in construction.
Maintain required documentation and ensure the job site remains clean.
Attend meetings, events, or training as required.
Complete as-built documentation for and submit field-marked prints (FMP) to the appropriate personnel within two weeks of project completion.
Complete all safety and production forms daily and submit them weekly.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Familiarity with OSHA Standard 1926, including Subpart V (Power Transmission and Distribution).
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Org Plus, Outlook, SharePoint, and internet applications.
Proficiency in standard construction practices, safe operation of construction equipment, and familiarity with Telecom construction.
OSHA 30-hour training required.
Experience working in group settings and with governmental agencies.
Ability to interface effectively with internal and external clients at all levels.
Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
Willingness to travel extensively and maintain a continuous presence on assignments.
Physical ability to perform outdoor work and wear all required PPE.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
