The Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician plays a crucial role in the secure delivery and transportation of light Mercaptans, which serve as odorants for natural gas and propane. This role involves operating tank trailers or other containers approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT). As a self-directed individual, the technician will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and prioritize safety during the transportation and delivery process across North America using Arkema's equipment, including bulk trailers and tractors. Decision-making regarding the operation or connection to Arkema's delivery vessel and customer equipment is also a key responsibility.
This position reports to Operations Manager and has no direct reports.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Complete training requirements necessary for the Bulk Odorant Delivery Technician position.
- Collaborate with a co-driver in a team environment to conduct over-the-road bulk deliveries of mercaptan, adhering to DOT regulations and Arkema's standards.
- Engage with customers prior to transport to ensure efficient scheduling and safe access to customer sites.
- Prepare trucks and trailers for delivery, ensuring all equipment complies with DOT guidelines and regulations.
- Handle paperwork related to expenses and deliveries.
- Participate actively in driver meetings and discussions.
To be considered for this role, the following is required: - Successful completion of a pre-employment DOT physical and background check.
- Relevant experience or training in the petrochemical industry performing similar duties.
- Prior experience driving in a team or co-driver environment.
- Valid Louisiana CDL license in good standing.
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with long-distance driving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to thrive in a self-directed role.
