The City of Alexandria, LA is offering a full-time position in the Maintenance of Public Buildings Department. The annual salary is $33,238.40. The job is based in Alexandria, LA, with a work schedule of Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM 3:00 PM, and may include some weekend work.

The purpose of this classification is to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Maintenance of Public Buildings Department, and future vacancies, to engage in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and components in government buildings for the City of Alexandria. Systems range from residential to 480 volts, and include emergency generators, three phase motors and control devices and circuits.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, vocational or technical school training in electric construction and technology, supplemented by significant working experience in maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems, including three phase industrial systems, equivalent to that of a journey-level electrician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A journey-level licensed electrician is desired, as is knowledge of the applicable Electrical Construction Codes. A valid driver's license is required and must be obtained at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination deemed necessary.
