Power Line Worker Instructor

CLTCC serves seven parishes in central Louisiana with five sites: Alexandria, Cottonport, Winnfield, Jena, and Ferriday. Position domiciled at Main Campus in Alexandria.

The Power Line Worker Instructor facilitates student learning and initiates and participates in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. The instructor will be responsible for teaching classes in the Power Line Worker program and will report to the Vice Chancellor of Workforce and Grant Development. This is a 12-month, full-time teaching position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to climb wood and steel structures up to 95 feet in height.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations applying to electrical linework focusing on industry safety standards, hands-on application of skills, and can research new/current regulations.
  • Ability to effectively train others in a classroom and field environment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally professionally with colleagues, students, potential students, and alumni.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills: email, time sheet entry, website navigation for curriculum.
  • Maintain office hours for student consultations.
  • Prepare and provide course syllabus and instructional materials to students.
  • Evaluate and review students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Keep appropriate records of testing and grading, as per college standards.
  • Utilize technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others and facilitate learning.
  • Maintain student discipline through effective classroom management.
  • Attain, maintain, and review program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Fulfilling professional assignments in accordance with the CLTCC College calendar and contractual obligations.
  • Partner with business and industry to promote the Power Line Worker training program.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Completed a Journeyman Level Power Lineman Technician program, certificate program, or on-the-job training program
  • Appropriate OSHA certification within the first 90 days
  • Five years of experience as a Power Lineman Technician
Additional Requirements:
  • A valid Louisiana Driver's License Proof of motor vehicle insurance
  • In accordance with LCTCS Policy #6:036, a criminal history check will be conducted on all new hires. LCTCS participates in the federal E-Verify system for identification and employment eligibility purposes.
